Instructions
Prepare the Dough
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it rest for 10 minutes until bubbly. If no bubbles appear, start again with fresh yeast.
-
Add all-purpose flour, one egg, softened butter, and a little extra sugar. Mix until a dough forms.
-
Knead the dough for 15 minutes until smooth, soft, and elastic.
-
Transfer to a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it proof in a warm spot for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
Make the Filling
- Flatten the dough with a rolling pin. Spread Nutella evenly over the surface.
- Sprinkle chocolate disks over the Nutella, then add chopped Ferrero Rocher chocolates for crunch.
Assembling the Rolls
- Cut the dough into thick strips and roll each strip individually to form the rolls.
- Place the rolls in a square pan lined with parchment paper, leaving a little space between each. Cover and let them rise for another 20–30 minutes.
Baking the Rolls
- Pour some heavy whipping cream over the rolls to keep them extra soft.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 25 minutes, checking at 20 minutes to ensure even browning.
Icing and Finishing Touches
- Prepare the frosting by mixing soft butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add icing sugar and mix until lump-free, then fold in Nutella.
- Spread the frosting over the warm rolls. Pipe thin lines of Nutella on top and place a whole Ferrero Rocher on each roll.
