- Granulated sugar, to sweeten this chocolate cake.
- cocoa powder, use the one with a 100% cocoa powder dont use the ones that have sugar added.
- all purpose flour
- baking powder

- boiling water, it’s gonna make the cake softer and help dissolve the cocoa powder better, leaving no lumps.
- milk, its gonna add more flavor to the cake making it more rich
- Sunflower oil, i like to use oil when making cakes so it stays soft and moist longer. When you use butter it becomes more dense.
- vanilla essence, we use really cheap vanilla that has probably 20 ingredients, if you can find a better quality vanilla use less amount of it or its gonna be too strong.
- Dark chocolate, we use chocolate for the cake and for the ganache
- heavy cream, make sure it has a high percentage in fat. We are gonna use it to make our ganache,

we are making the ganache with just two ingredients, dark chocolate and heavy cream. Im not a big fan of frostings with butter or cream cheese and i feel like a ganache goes so much better with a chocolate cake. Each bite its gonna melt into your mouth.
to make a ganache you need to chop chocolate and pour it into a bowl, in a separate pan you wanna bring your heavy cream to a boil, make sure you are using heavy cream with a high percentage of fat (35 – 38 % in fat). Once the heavy cream is boiling pour it into the chocolate and stir until its all melted and smooth. You wanna leave it in the fridge for a little to have a better texture.
if you accidentally leave the ganache in the fridge for too long its easy to fix, in a big pan you wanna put water and then in a smaller pan the ganache, ( Bain Marie) dont leave it too long, you need to stir constantly and make sure the water never boils. If its melts too much repeat the same process and leave it on the fridge, just for less time..

tips
- We prepare the dry ingredients in a bowl to make sure everything is well incorporated, we dont wanna eat cake and eat a slice with salt and baking powder. Also its gonna help with the baking.
- when we pour the boiling hot water we need to stir the mix carefully, better if you do it in 3 times so the hot water doesn’t cook the eggs, or cake mix.
- we use cheap vanilla that’s why we need to use a lot of it but if you have a good quality vanilla essence you should add less.
- grease the pan because this cake gets really hard to remove from the pan if its not properly greased. We also added parchment paper on the bottom so its easier to remove.
- make the ganache once the cake its baking so you have time for it to cool down a little and achieve the perfect texture.
- Check if the cake is cooked inserting a toothpick in the middle, youre gonna know if its cooked or not really easily. If the wooden toothpick comes out dirty with cake batter it needs to stay a little longer in the oven. If the wooden toothpick comes out with moist crumbs its ready.
- dont open the oven unnecessarily or the cake its gonna end up having a hole on the middle.

- 200 grams all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 small eggs
- 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
- 60 grams milk
- 115 grams sunflower seed oil
- 170 grams boiling water
- 100 grams chocolate chunks

- 200 grams dark chocolate
- 170 grams heavy cream
step by step

1)First step, dry ingredients
To start making this delicious chocolate cake you wanna start by add all the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl. Add granulated sugar, cocoa powder, all purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Once all the dry ingredients are in the mixing bowl mix them together using a spoon or whisk.
2)Second step, wet ingredients
Once you have all the dry ingredients ready you can go ahead and grab a separate bowl. Carefully you wanna crack three small eggs, add vanilla extract, milk and sunflower seed oil.
3)Third step, mix
start boiling your water in a small pot so we have it ready for the next step!
Use a whisk to throughly combine the wet ingredients. We want all the ingredients to be evenly incorporated.
Now its time to combine them together, carefully pour the wet mix into the dry ingredients. Use a spatula to mix as much as you can, its still gonna look dry because we need to add the boiling water.
4)Forth step, boiling water
This is what the cake batter should be looking like after adding the wet ingredients, now really carefully pour in the boiling hot water into the mix. Mix everything with a spatula and you should have a liquid batter.
5)Fifth step, chocolate chunks
Transfer the batter into a greased pan and add the chocolate chunks on top, you could just mix the chocolate chunks with the batter before but we forgot to do it so we added them on top and mixed it with a spoon making sure theyre covered with the cake mix to prevent them for burning in the oven.

It’s time to bake the chocolate cake. Bake at 160 C (320 F) for about 60 minutes, this is an estimated baking time and may vary depending on your ovens temperature accuracy. Do not open the oven a lot or its gonnna happen to you the same thing it happened to us and youre gonna end up with a whole on the middle of your cake. So..after 60 minutes you wanna insert a toothpick into the center of the cake.
- if the toothpick its wet with cake batter, leave it for about 5 more minutes.
- if the toothpick comes out with moist crumbs its ready remove from oven and allow it too cool for about 20 minutes. After this time has passed you can remove it from the pan.

While the cake is baking you should start by making your ganache specially if it’s summer and its hot. It needs to set a little so its not so liquid.

Stir until smooth, be careful. The hot heavy cream is gonna melt the chocolate. First its gonna look like chocolate milk but then if you keep mixing its gonna have a nice chocolate color. Cover the ganache with plastic wrap and leave it in the fridge for about 10 to 20 minutes to have a more dense consistency.
