Brown butter
Making brown butter for your cookie dough can add a rich and nutty flavor. It’s made by heating butter until the milk solids caramelize resulting in a delicious fragrant and slightly toasted flavor. It makes the edible cookie dough taste so much better.
Here is how to make brown butter, start by melting the butter in a light colored pan on medium-low heat. Continue to stir gently to prevent the butter from burning. The butter will start to foam and then slightly change color. Once it turns golden brown, remove from the stove and cool down completely before using.

Toast flour
To make this cookie dough edible and safe to eat we need to toast the flour in a pan. I’ve seen people doing this step on the microwave and it would only kill bacteria but it would still taste like raw flour. Toasting it for enough time on the pan enhances the natural flavors of the flour and it also gives it a nutty and delicious flavor.
This is how you do it, heat a clean and dry pan and add flour. Stir the flour consistently with a spatula and make sure you are doing it on medium low heat. This step should take from 7 to 10 minutes. You will see how the flour starts to change color to a light brown tone.

Tips
-make brown butter and allow it to cool down completely.
-use a light colored pan to see the butter changing its color. If you use a dark pan or skillet you can’t see the color changing and you could burn the butter.
-whip the butter and sugars together with a whisk for about 4 minutes. This will make the dough extra fluffy. (We didn’t do this step because we realized when it was too late and it was still really good)
-toast the flour in a pan from 7 to 10 minutes to enhance the natural flavors of the flour.
-add the chocolate chips at the end so they don’t melt.

brown butter
1)First step, brown butter
To make edible cookie dough, start by making brown butter. In a light colored pan add the necessary butter for this recipe. Allow it to brown on medium low heat stirring constantly to prevent the butter from burning.
After the butter melts you wills see foam forming on the butter and minutes after that the color changes to a beautiful golden brown color. Once it’s ready, allow it to cool down completely.
Flour
2)Second step, cook flour
Cook the flour on a clean and super dry pan over medium-low heat. Make sure to stir constantly to prevent the flour from burning. This step should take from 8 to 10 minutes and it will add a delicious nutty flavor to your edible cookie dough.
You will see how the flour has changed to a light brown color and that’s when you know it’s ready. Make sure to not burn it! Add milk powder if you have it and stir, this ingredient is not necessary but it makes this recipe 10 times better.
Sugars
3)Third step, add sugar
Once the butter is cold enough (room temperature), pour it in a clean and dry bowl and add granulated sugar and brown sugar.
4)Forth step, sugar
You could use a stand mixer for this step to make this edible cookie dough extra fluffy if you have one. Make sure to whisk the butter with the sugars together for about 4 minutes on medium speed using the wire whip attachment. You can use a manual whisk instead.
Rest of ingredients
5)Fifth step, liquid ingredients
If you whisk the sugars for enough time you should have a fluffier batter than the one you see in the picture. But now you can go ahead and add the rest of liquid ingredients, vanilla extract and milk. Mix again until all the ingredients are fully incorporated.
6)Sixth step, dry ingredients
Add the mix of all purpose flour and milk powder to the cookie batter. Adjust this recipe however you like, if it feels to dense you could add more milk until you achieve the perfect consistency to your liking.
7)Seventh step, chocolate chips
This is the consistency i like for my cookie dough, not too dry and not sticky at the same time.
Add as many chocolate chips as you’d like. You can also use chocolate chunks instead, a mix of both or if you don’t like chocolate chips you can leave it without adding any. And its ready to enjoy!
