Equipment we Need to make a Dubai Chocolate Brownie
Gathering the right tools makes the process smooth and ensures a perfect result. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 8×8 Inch (20×20 cm) Square Pan: This is the ideal size for achieving a thick, bakery-style brownie that can support the luxurious layers. Pro Tip: Lining the pan with parchment paper creates a “sling” that lets you lift the entire batch out for flawless cutting and presentation.
- Electric Mixer or Whisk: For the crucial step of beating the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy. An electric hand mixer is fastest, but a sturdy whisk will get you there with a little extra effort—this creates that beautiful, crackly brownie top.
- Flexible Spatula: Your best friend for baking. It’s perfect for scraping every bit of batter from the bowl and, most importantly, for gently folding in the flour and cocoa to keep the batter airy.
- Two Stovetop Pans:
- Small Saucepan: For gently melting the butter and chocolate together without burning.
- Larger Skillet: Essential for toasting the kataifi in butter. The larger surface area allows the delicate strands to become evenly golden and crisp, which is the key to the Dubai filling’s unique texture.

Kataifi: Where can I buy Kataifi

How to Make a Nutella Dubai Brownie Step-by-Step Photos:
You can find the recipe with exact measurements in the recipe card at the bottom of this post. Here, you’ll also find a step-by-step guide with pictures to help you through the process. For this recipe, we will separate it into three different parts: the brownie, the Dubai chocolate filling, and the decoration. This way, it’s easier to follow each step and get the perfect result every time.

How to make Brownies
To make the brownie we want to beat the eggs with the sugars until they are fluffy and light in color. This step is super essential to get a nice brownie crust.

The butter goes in a pan to melt, and you can even slightly brown it for extra flavor. Then pour in the chopped chocolate and let it sit for 2 minutes so it melts easily.

In a separate bowl, we mix the flour and cocoa powder. After combining everything, we add more chocolate chips and pour the batter into a lined pan. Bake the nutella dubai brownies in a preheated oven at 180°C for 40 minutes.

Dubai Chocolate Filling
The Dubai chocolate filling is very easy to make. We are going to use kataifi toasted in butter, pistachio spread, and tahini, all mixed together.
Make sure the kataifi is golden brown so it’s fully cooked, if it’s whitish, it means it’s still raw dough.

We will top the brownie with the Dubai chocolate mixture, spreading it out and flattening it. Keep it in the freezer for 10 minutes so it hardens slightly before moving on to the decoration.

For the decoration, melt the Nutella until it’s liquid, microwave in 10-second intervals, stirring each time until fully melted. Pour the Nutella over the hardened Dubai filling, spread it out until smooth, and freeze for 10 more minutes. Finally, cut into squares and serve!

Ready to Make the Most Insanely Good Brownies Ever?
Troubleshooting common mistakes
Even the best bakers hit snags. Here’s how to identify and fix common problems to ensure perfect brownies every time.
The brownie is dense and cakey, not fudgy.
- Cause: Over-mixing the batter after adding the flour, or over-baking.
- Fix: Mix the dry ingredients only until the flour disappears.
The kataifi filling is soft or chewy, not crunchy.
- Cause: The kataifi was under-toasted, or it softened from the moisture of the brownies over time.
- Fix: Toast the kataifi in butter over low-medium heat, stirring constantly, until it’s a deep golden brown. Store finished brownies in an airtight container to slow down softening.
The Nutella topping is messy and smears when cutting.
- Cause: You skipped the freezing step, or the Nutella wasn’t fully set.
- Fix: After spreading the melted Nutella, freeze the pan for at least 10 minutes. Use a hot, clean knife to cut the squares for the cleanest slices.
