Description

These thick, buttery cookie bars are everything you love about classic chocolate chip cookies—but even better! Baked to golden perfection with crispy edges and a gloriously gooey center, they’re studded with melty chocolate chips in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 240 grams melted butter
  • 70 grams granulated sugar
  • 50 grams brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 300 grams all purpose flour
  • 200 grams chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Combine Sugars & Butter: In a large mixing bowl, blend the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and melted butter together. Don’t worry if the mixture looks grainy or separated at this stage – this is completely normal.

  2. Incorporate Eggs: Add both eggs to the sugar-butter mixture. Use a whisk to beat everything together until the mixture becomes smooth, creamy, and fully unified.

  3. Add Dry Ingredients: Switch to a spatula and gently fold in the baking powder and all-purpose flour. Be careful not to overmix – stop as soon as no dry flour remains. This gentle approach keeps the bars tender.

  4. Mix in Chocolate: Now for the best part, stir in your chocolate chips! Add as many as you like (we recommend being generous). The dough will be thick and studded with chocolatey goodness.

  5. Prepare for Baking: Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Line your baking pan with parchment paper, then transfer the dough into it. Use the spatula to spread it evenly into all corners.

  6. Bake to Perfection: Bake for exactly 30 minutes. The bars should be golden around the edges while still slightly soft in the center, this gives that perfect gooey texture.

  7. Cool ProperlyL Let the bars cool in the pan for a little. Then carefully lift them out using the parchment paper and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
