Homemade lasagna

Just imagine a delicious and mouthwatering homemade lasagna straight out of the oven. With the melted and beautifully golden cheese on top. Its gently baked allowing all the flavors to melt together and create a symphony of taste.

Layers of this delicious homemade bechamel sauce, ground beef, lasagna noodles and melted cheese. This homemade lasagna for two is the perfect dinner idea for when you don’t feel like cooking but want a delicious and comforting meal to satisfy all your cravings.

how to layer your homemade lasagna

We are making lasagna for two people so start by grabbing a pan of the right size.

-first layer of bechamel, add noodle on top and then add the ground beef and more bechamel on top.

-second layer you wanna add your Lasagna noodle, more ground beef, and then pasta noodle again.

-top it with more bechamel and lots of mozzarella cheese. Bake and eat!

ORDER: bechamel, noodle, beef, bechamel, noodle, beef, noodle, mozzarella cheese.

BROIL THE HOMEMADE LASAGNA

i don’t like it when the lasagna noodles are too cooked so i normally bake it at high temperature only heat from the top for about 5 minutes or until golden brown. If you want you can also cover it with aluminium foil and cook it for longer time.

Allow the lasagna to rest 10 minutes before serving..

this is gonna help hold the shape of your lasagna. If you are like me and wanna eat it as soon as you take it out from the oven its gonna happen what you can see in the picture, which is totally fine. Add some parsley to garnish and its ready to eat:).

HOW TO MAKE THE LASAGNA

lasagna noodles, we are using cannelloni pasta sheets because we have probably 10000 in our house so it would be not so smart to buy lasagna noodles, but they’re basically the same it just changes the shape/size. Cook them if you have to, read the instructions of your pasta.

-ground beef, sauté your veggies and then add your beef, add your seasonings of choice. You can also add wine and then cook it until it’s evaporated. Add your tomato sauce.

-bechamel, we make our white sauce, in a pan with butter you add the flour, cook it for a couple minutes and then you wanna add the milk, cook it until it has the perfect consistency.

-layer and bake until golden brown and its ready to eat.

Start by prepping your veggies, peel and chop them into small and uniform pieces. Don’t mix them, keep them in separate containers.

cook vegetables

1)First step, veggies

Heat a pan over medium heat and add butter or oil to cook your veggies, once its melted and hot, carefully add the chopped onions, stir so they are spread evenly in the pan. Cook them for about 4 minutes (our onions are green because that’s what we had from our garden, use normal onions if you have them.)

after the onions have cooked for about 4 minutes on medium low heat you can add the carrots and celery.

2)Second step, garlic

You wanna cook them until they are soft, put a lid on top of the pan to help with this step. Add the minced garlic into to the pan, i like to add it at this step to prevent it from burning. Cook it until fragrant.

3)Third step, beef

add the ground beef to the pan spreading it out evenly and use a spatula to break up the ground beef into smaller pieces as it cooks. Cook the beef over medium heat, stirring occasionally until its browned. It should take about 6 minutes. Add the spices and cook for 1 more minute.

4)Forth step, tomato sauce

you can make the tomato sauce or buy it, we are using this homemade tomato sauce we made last year and have stored in jars.

Add it into the beef and give it a good mix until its well combined.

Bechamel sauce

5)Fifth step, bechamel sauce

to make our homemade bechamel sauce you wanna start by heating the pan on the stove over medium heat with some butter on top. Once the butter is melted you wanna add the flour and cook it over medium low heat for about 4 minutes, don’t stop stirring the flour or it may burn.

6)Sixth step, bechamel sauce

then you can go ahead and add the milk and stir, cook the sauce for about 5 to 7 seven minutes or until it thickens to your desired consistency. Stir constantly to ensure the sauce cooks evenly and doesn’t stick to the pan. Once it’s ready add nutmeg.

If you notice any lumps in your bechamel sauce you can strain it through a fine mesh sieve.

Layer this classic lasagna

7)Seventh step, layer

Pre heat your oven at 240 C (475F)

Grab your baking pan of choice and add bechamel sauce to the bottom, noodles, beef and then top it with more bechamel sauce.

8)Eight step, layer

Add your lasagna sheet, more ground beef, pasta and more bechamel sauce. Top it with some mozzarella cheese.

Broil

9)Ninth step, bake

Once your lasagna is assembled and ready to bake place it on the top tack of your oven. Make sure the oven is set to broil (top heat) because we dont wanna bake the whole thing we just wanna give the cheese that beautiful color.

bake at 240 C (475F), keep an eye on your oven because we don’t wanna burn it, it should take you about 5 to 8 minutes to achieve that Colour. Allow the lasagna to set for a few minutes before cutting, this will help it set and make it easier to slice and serve. Top it with chopped parsley.
